Growing in harsh open areas, the Opuntia cactus is known for its ability to live through long periods of drought producing good healthy organic fruit devoid of any kind of chemical treatments.
Where Does The Oil Come From?
The prickly pear seed oil (barbary fig) is found within the small dark seeds of the prickly pear fruit. Each seed from the fruit contains just 5% of oil and it takes one ton of fruit yielding 30Kg of seeds to produce one litre of oil. Extraction of the oil is also a lengthy process which makes this precious Moroccan oil the most expensive on the market.
Cold Pressed Oils
Opuntia use only organic cold-pressed oils in our skin care products. This procedure of oil abstraction ensures that the oil retains all of the goodness and beneficial ingredients. Using heat methods to obtain oil from fruits and seeds has a direct impact on the quality of oils whether it is used for cooking or cosmetic use. Opuntia oils are obtained using a mechanical technique for the extraction process where just a small amount of heat is produced through the friction of the hydraucalic presses. This makes our cold pressed oils an excellent base for cosmetic uses.
