With the summer season well underway, many of you will be soaking up that summer sun so it is essential to take good care of your skin and hair. Although those summer rays feel great and produce that much desired tan, prolonged exposure to UV rays will actually dry out your skin, causing premature aging. As we all know now, it is very important to use a good sunscreen while exposing your skin to the sun.
To help keep your skin hydrated and replace lost moisture, both prickly pear seed oil and argan oil will provide an excellent moisture boost after sun exposure. Both of these oils are naturally rich in antioxidants and free radical fighting properties that will help to rehydrate, repair and soothe sun damaged skin.
But, it's not just your skin that needs taking care of in the dry season, the effects of the sun and heat can also take its toll on your hair. Over exposure to the sun can transform healthy glossy looking locks to something that resembles a bird's nest! To help, keep your tresses looking great this summer, argan oil makes a great choice. If my hair is in need of a boost, I smooth some through damp hair and then after drying, smooth on a little bit more to give a shine boost and keep it from drying out later. As a female in my forties, I have found that my hair is not as thick as it used to be, it is thinner, dryer and more prone to breaking. Applying argan oil to my hair when damp, not only helps to replace this moisture but also gives it a little more weight and resilience. Although, whether your hair is thick or thin, applying argan oil when the hair is damp will also help with dry frizz. If your hair is thin and inclined to going flat, drying your hair upside down is a great way to give the appearance of more volume, making your hair feel airy and bouncy.
